Dr Tim Baker from WINNERS-AT-WORK gave a stimulating and fun presentation to FPA breakfast delegates attending the recent conference at the Carlton Crest on Understanding People and their Personalities. Dr Tim Baker is an internationally recognised human resource development consultant who specialises in assisting organisations enhance their people’s interpersonal skills.

The four personality types were expressed as Bulls, Peacocks, Owls, and Lambs. Each delegate was given an opportunity to assess their own personalities during the presentation.

Bulls are described as natural leaders who are assertive and decisive in their decision making. Peacocks tend to be naturally outgoing and extrovert with the ability to inspire others. Owls are natural problem solvers with an eye for detail and structure. Lambs are natural peacemakers who are likeable and good team players.

From a sales perspective, an understanding of personality can greatly assist financial planners to build rapport and develop trusting relationships with their clients.

Tim’s advice is, “Treat people how they want to be treated rather than how you personally want to be treated”.
